Region Västra Götaland has assigned Oxford Research to conduct a sustainability evaluation of the Region’s new regional development strategy.

The assignment aims to strengthen Region Västra Götaland’s capacity to incorporate Agenda 2030 in all efforts related to regional development.

The assignment entails analysing whether and how the formulations of goals, long-term priorities, cross-sectorial commitments and guiding principles of the new strategy contribute to fulfilling the 17 goals and 169 targets of the UN Global Goals.

Oxford Research will also seek to identify areas where conflicting interests may arise in the new strategy as well as areas where synergies between efforts to fulfill the different goals and targets potentially can be achieved.

A number of indicators will be developed to measure the performance of the new strategy in relation to the UN Global Goals. The indicators will concern the drafted goals and the long-term priorities of the strategy as well as activities to be carried out by different regional actors.

The assignment will run between April and August 2020. The results will be presented in a written report and at several workshops.
